Small Things

A co-worker and I have signed up to be Bingo callers for our schools Bingo night next week. A few students found out we are going to be callers and the smiles on their faces was priceless.
I know it is often hard to sign up for "extra" things because our plates are already pretty full, but after I participate I am always so glad I did. The students truly do enjoy seeing their teacher at these type of events and it is the smallest things sometimes that can make the biggest difference.

  1. I am so glad you wrote this because I was thinking about being a BINGO caller at our school and I have been going back and forth with whether or not I want to do it! You just helped me make up my mind! Thanks! :)

  2. I completely agree. Something else to think about is PTO. It has been a wonderful experience to be reminded of what parents see and feel about school. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in meeting standards and getting all the curriculum in that we forget how little parents get to be involved. i also recommend going to recitals, sports events, etc. It is helpful to see kids and how they act outside the school setting, especially the challenging students. For one student it gave me a new insight on his interest and I was able to tie it into his learning.
