2nd Week

We had a staff meeting earlier this week and we were informed that we had to come up with a goal for the year. My teaching partner and myself have been working with the other elementary PE teachers on incorporating technology into our assessment practice. This is a perfect goal for the year! We're hoping to use the student response systems to assess our students at the end of each quarter. I'm glad that we're not doing paper pencil assessments since we see such a high volume of students. I'm looking forward to trying out this technology within the PE setting.

  1. That's a fantastic idea, especially to find direct real time feedback. On the same technology perspective, my hockey team will be purchasing an I pad, for video usage during practice as well as games to give our girls real time feedback, whether its after a drill or during an intermission. Love this stuff. Wouldn't it be cool if each phy. ed class had 10 i pads in developing skills & strategies. Perhaps a bit much for elem. pe. But please share how effective your technology was in the classroom. Always looking for the enhancement.

  2. I used the response systems last year in a regular 4th grade class. The students loved using them. The difficulty of using the response system is loading all the names and data so that you can save all the information that the students are responding to. This means typing in every students name and making sure they have the correct number for their response card. Once this is done, it is great! Make sure to have the "novelty" of this system wear off early in the year.

  3. I am excited to see how you like using the student response system and how the set-up goes. I am hoping to use them in my classroom this year- possibly weekly. I am hoping once the intitial set up is in place then using them weekly would go smoothly.

  4. I'd love to hear how this works for you! I like the idea of using the response system because it would get all of the kids involved in a fun way, but I'm nervous about using it with my age group. Let us know how it goes!

  5. I am also a HUGE fan of the student response systems. I think it's really cool that you're using them in PE. As a specialist, I've found that the monotony of making class lists can be made easier by checking in with classroom teachers to find out how many of them have already created lists for their students. They can send you their lists instead of you needing to create your own.
